Chris’s extensive experience of working with children and young people of all ages and in a broad variety of situations and circumstances as well as his own life experience, has given him a unique base of skills, techniques and insights to work from.
He also works with adults, providing Workshops and Training on communication and play and Workshops about Story Telling and Story Making.
In 1965, Chris specialised in primary education and drama at the Berkshire College of Education and began teaching in 1968. He has worked in a variety of settings ranging from Infant and Junior Schools to a specialist setting for children and young people with speech and language difficulties in Surrey. In 1979, he became an Associate of the Drama Board (Education).
In 1993, he gained the Diploma in Social Work and began working as a Social Worker on the medical wards of a busy General Hospital. In 1995, he was appointed as Senior Social Worker to the Child Health Team, working directly with families and developing services for disabled children and young people across West Sussex. This Team became the Child Disability Team in 2001.
He formed his company ‘Freedom Through Fun’ in November 2004. Since then working across West Sussex and Hampshire providing a whole range of creative and innovative resources and activities in Schools, on Playschemes and in specialist settings both voluntary and statutory. Chris worked as a Consultant to the W.S.C.C as part of the ‘Aiming High for Disabled Children’ initiative.
Chris holds firm to certain key values and beliefs. The importance of creative expression; everyone has potential to be discovered; ‘see’ the person beyond the person you see; respect others; spend time in the present moment.
Chris continues to develop other vehicles, for fun and nourishment.
