Chris’s original training as a teacher, included specialising in drama. He also gained an additional drama qualification and has a wide range of experience in using drama as a tool.
Whilst a teacher in primary schools, amongst a range of activities he produced ‘Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat’; worked on an improvised version of ‘Dr. Who and the Christmas Encounter’; with a music specialist wrote a script for a production of, ‘On the Home Front’; ran after school drama clubs; used drama as a tool throughout the curriculum.
Through his company ‘Freedom Through Fun’, he’s worked with a variety of groups and organisations to :
» Provide drama tools, to safely explore life experiences.
» Improvise on themes such as ‘Earth, Air, Fire, Water’ and ‘The Snow Queen’.
» Use mime, dance and movement.
» Give opportunities, to use stand up poetry.
» Create and develop characters, using costumes and props.
Chris’s work is inclusive and whatever the needs of the children and young people he’s with, tailors it accordingly. He believes in using what arises in the moments, valuing everyone’s contribution and developing imagination.
